This Was A Big Job
Job With A Difference
The Two Day Removal That Took Five Days
LOCAL NORTHSIDE FURNITURE REMOVAL
Both localities are hilly and not truck friendly.
She greeted us on arrival and waved her hands towards the sitcase, 6 boxes, mattress, dainty furniture, wooden bed frame and of course, the piano.

OVER AND BEYOND
We had to unload items over a balcony.
This was a removal job we do not encounter often. Some difficulties came across our way, and in the end, the removal job took six hours to complete instead of an anticipated four hours.
DIFFICULT BUT DOABLE
Jack and Jill did not fall and come tumbling this time.
It was a long hard climb to get everything into the house – BUT WE DID IT. Large boxes, furniure and white goods, the lot.

PACKED AND READY TO MOVE
We will be glad to help them again in the future.
When we arrived Sini, George and their two daughters were ready to move. They told us they are in the process of building a new home, which is really exciting.
HAPPY AND CHATTY
All set for the big move!
Ernie and family were chatty and helpful customers. They were ready to move when we arrived, by having all the upstairs items moved to the nearside of the furniture truck.

GOLD COAST TO BRISBANE FOR HOTA
It requires hard work and tons of energy.
We were hired to relocate 62 ply-boards, each weighing 35kg. Each board was 4 metres long and had a thickness of 19mm. A good tip for customers is to ensure that on the day of the removal job…
15 HOURS AND PLENTY OF RAIN
We had a friendly magpie come on board!
It was a removal job for two days – 15 hours in total. It rained a fair bit but that did not stop us.

THE CHEVRON ISLAND PENTHOUSE
Big Muscle Day!
When moving items, the heaviest are usually the boxes of books, and there were plenty of these in this trip.
CHARLIE AND ANNIE
They were a lovely couple.
There were quite a few packing boxes that we had to move. We probably moved the largest TV in Brisbane, good thing we got our removalist magic running.
WE EVEN WORK ON SUNDAYS
We will show up – even on weekends.
Transporting the furniture last 9th of October 2022 was suburb to suburb on the Northside. And we must be doing something right owing to the fact that…

THE TWO-DAY REMOVAL THAT TOOK FIVE DAYS
What Bad Weather Can Do!
The next thing we know, we are bogged to the axel. The road surface had become unstable because of the continual raining. Nothing could be done in the bad weather…
Brisbane (Griffin) to Longreach
We arrived at the loading point right on time at 1:30 pm on Saturday. Turned out there was more furniture to load than we had been advised. It just took a bit longer to load than anticipated. Anyway, we found a way to get all items packed and loaded securely – tied down and blanketed.
One particular piece of furniture was a large glass topped coffee table (very fragile and breakable if not loaded properly). We wrapped it in extra blankets, and everything turned out fine.
By 6.30 pm Saturday we had the removal truck loaded and were ready to depart Brisbane.
Our first stop was Roma. We arrived in the early hours of Sunday around 3.00 am. The temperature was freezing. We stopped over at the United Roma Roadhouse. After a quick snack we had four and a half hours sleep. For breakfast we ate scrambled eggs, sausages, and several cups of coffee to wash it down.
Back in the removal truck the load was safe and secure. The towns ahead were Morven, Blackall, Barcaldine and finally Longreach. Arrival time there was 7:40 pm Sunday evening.
The wife was there to meet us and very happy we had arrived safely with their possessions intact. The owners shouted pizza when the last items were unloaded and inside what would be their new home for the next few years. The unloading took us until about 10.30 pm Sunday night. By then we were tired but stayed on the job until we had unpacked the last item.
After we had folded and stashed the blankets, we headed out of Longreach for the long trip home to Brisbane. My offsiders, Brenden and Tim, both agreed we had relocated another happy family and all parties were pleased with the end result.
Miles to Inala
Our depot is located on the north side of Brisbane, and we had to drive the removal truck to Miles to start the job. A distance of some 336 kilometres, just to get started.
We headed out of our removal depot in Brisbane at about 11:00 pm and arrived at the United Petroleum Miles Roadhouse around 4:00 am the next morning. The temperature was freezing as usual, but we got one and a half hours kip time before breakfast.
As promised, we arrived outside the house at 7:00 am. The owner and her trusty border collie met us, and we got straight to work. My offsiders, Tim and Brenden were with me as usual.
Access to the home was via the front stairs as this would make the loading easiest. Loading the furniture took until around 11:40 am.
Once I was satisfied the men and I had packed all furniture safe and securely we were ready to rock on to the highway for the trip to Inala.
The trip was smooth and uneventful, so we stopped at the bottom of the Toowoomba range for some just bearable lunch.
Good cooks seem to be as rare as hen’s teeth in some of the eateries we stop at from time to time.
By 6:00 pm we arrived outside the house in Inala to unload. Unloading was a bit difficult because we had to get around high fences and ground that was not landscaped properly. Extra care was needed to ensure none of the furniture items were damaged in any way. There were lots of whitegoods, furniture, and boxes, and with some rickety front steps we had to be careful we didn’t injure ourselves or damage the furniture.
At 8:00 pm we had clocked up 13.5 hours work but had finished the removal to the satisfaction of the owner. We were glad to be heading home to a hot meal and a very hot shower.
What Bad Weather Can Do!
This furniture removal job started at 9:30 am on a Thursday at the premises for a National Storage facility in Mansfield. It was to be delivered to a property in the country 23.5 km north of Miles.
Things did not go well from the start. The loading was hampered by other people at the storage facility coming and going with their own goods for storage. We did our best and by 12:45 pm I was satisfied we had all the possessions on board, and they were loaded safe and secure. The drive to Toowoomba was uneventful but we had to
use 2nd gear to get up the range. The traffic around Toowoomba that day for some reason was unusually heavy.
I might add here that it was raining, and the weather forecast was for continuing rain, for the next few days.
We were relying on GPS navigation to find the property as it was outside town. We had to be on the Hookswood Pelham Road to get to the property.
It was now 6:00 pm and we were receiving text messages from the customer wondering why we were taking so long. They did not realise it might be a 4-hour trip in a car but not so in a removal truck, fully loaded. By 7:30 pm the GPS said we were 2 minutes away. I should add at this point we are driving on a dirt road, and it is still raining.
Well, the next thing we know, we are bogged to the axel. The road surface had become unstable because of the continual raining. I sent a text message to the customer to advise of the problem. They arranged for a nearby farmer to find us. Nothing could be done in the bad weather, not even the next day. I had to spend the weekend contacting other customers and cancelling their jobs which were lined up for the coming week.
By Monday it had stopped raining and after a false start we were able to get a contractor to tow the truck to dry solid ground.
Finally, we were within 100 metres of the house. So, I parked on the roadside and the boys, and I carried the load the rest of the way (unloading the furniture and whitegoods). I was not going to run the risk of getting bogged again on such wet soil and there being no properly formed roads here.
The unloading took two hours, and we were never so glad to see that the back of the truck was empty.
The customers were relieved that their furniture and possessions had been delivered safely in such trying circumstances.
We were home on Tuesday morning, and I promised myself to be very shy, if dirt roads are mentioned next time. No more driving down wet dirt roads.
Rescued! – by Cut Rate Removals
This customer was very happy to see us arrive on time. Why? Another removal company left them in the lurch at the very last moment.
We had to drive across the Gateway Bridge to the southside, not our usual stomping ground but we were happy to help someone out of a difficult situation.
The pick-up location was a large unit complex with narrow difficult access for a removals van. The unit was on three levels with narrow staircases to navigate.
We followed our proven methodical approach to moving the dwelling items and our three (3) man team loaded the furniture securely.
Once the truck was loaded, we followed the customer to their new apartment. A nice two level apartment in the suburb of Windsor.
On arrival, we had to park 50 metres from the service lift which made for extra walking- but it kept us fit.
The job was about 5 hours start to finish and we left knowing we had another satisfied customer happily relocated.
We even work on Sundays!
Judy is a previous customer who has used our northside removals services on several occasions (we look after our removal customers).
Transporting the furniture last 9th of October 2022 was suburb to suburb on the northside. It was a very efficient furniture removal and it took about 6 hours to relocate all her furniture, pots and plants to their new home.
We must be doing something right because not only has Judy used our removal services several times, she has also recommended us to some of her friends.
Charlie and Annie
This time we were on the southside again. The removal customer lived in Ormeau and wanted to move to Logan Reserve, which was not too far for a change.
Charlie and Annie lived in a three (3) bedroom home. It had a steep driveway down to the house, fortunately access was reasonable.
There were quite a few packing boxes that we had to move. Strong lifting was required to move the large pieces of furniture. It included electronic gear, white goods, bedding, miscellaneous hardware and
gardening equipment. We easily blended in as a local mover and worked our magic to load the truck.
Charlie and Annie were a lovely couple and very kind in every sense of the word. Annie was a true hoarder.
We probably moved the largest TV in Brisbane (at least it was boxed). Our work seemed optimized because these customers were ready to move and our team helped to make the occasion a budget moving service.
After 10 hours, we completed the move and had all items delivered to the new locality. We made sure the placement of the contents was just where the owners wanted, with every thing in its rightful place.
It is always a pleasure to meet customers who are ready to move as it makes for a quick and easy removal at a very affordable price.
15 Hours and Plenty of Rain
This was another furniture job for a previous customer (they have used our removal services a few times now).
It was a furniture removal job over two days – 15 hours in total. It rained a fair bit of the time but that did not stop us getting the job done.
We even had a friendly magpie come on board to help load the furniture truck. It was a very friendly critter.
Moving To A Chevron Island Penthouse
When moving items, the heaviest are usually boxes of books and there were plenty of these in this trip. It is what we call a ‘big muscle day’ in the removal business.
The Chevron Island property was a penthouse on the third level. Apart from the boxes of books, we had to carry a 3 seater lounge all the way to the top without damaging it – mission accomplished.
These also were previous customers we had relocated in the past. They were very satisfied with this relocation as well.
Happy and Chatty
Ernie and family were chatty and helpful customers. They were ready to move their furniture when we arrived, by having all the upstairs items moved to the nearside of the furniture truck, on the footpath.
They helped our team with the furniture removal and I tied down the load so there was no movement on the trip to their new home.
Everybody was happy wih the result and happy removal customers make for good referrals about our furniture relocation services. Safe and sound.
Gold Coast to Brisbane for HOTA (Home of the Arts)
Cut Rate Removals was hired to go to the HOTA Complex (loading dock 4) to relocate 62 ply-boards, each weighing 35kg. Each board was 4 metres long and had a thickness of 19mm. A job like this sounds easy but in actual fact is hard work and energy sapping.
On top of that, access at both pick-up and drop off was difficult. Resulting in a 40 + metre walk with load, between the removal truck
and the storage area. Just to load the truck took 1.5 hours. This was due in part to other vehicles blocking the access dock.
A good tip for customers is to ensure that on the day of the removal job, the access area is clear so we can get as close as possible. It will save time and money.
We completed the relocation to everyone’s satisfaction.
Packed and Ready to Move
When we arrived Sini, George and their two daughters were ready to move. They had packed everything very neatly and compactly. Basically, all we had to do was load the removal truck.
Their furniture looked very expensive and they watched us like hawks while we loaded and securely tied everything down.
One item in particular was a very heavy marble table top (I mean heavy). We moved it with professional ease and that made them very
happy.
Sini and George told us they are in the process of building a new home which will be finished in March/April next year (2023). They have already booked us again to move to their brand new home when completed.
Being a Northside Moving Service, we will be happy to help them again.
Difficult but Doable
Check the photos – this was the drop-off home and the removalist truck was parked on the kerbside. We could not get any closer. It was a long hard climb to get everything into the house – BUT WE DID IT. Large boxes, furniture and white goods, the lot.
The owner had moved house from Moorooka to Kelvin Grove and will be moving again in 6 months (she has pre-booked us for then).
The customer was very happy with the moving service and we were very happy.
Over and Beyond
This was an over and above removal job and one we don’t encounter often. We had not been told in advance, but when we arrived at the pick up address, we found out that we had to pack all the customers’ items before we could load the removalist truck. In the end, the furniture relocation took about six hours to complete instead of an anticipated four hours.
It was a southside removal and all the customers’ furniture was being moved to Beenleigh. On arrival, we were confronted with difficult ground on which to park the truck and ended up having to unload a lot of items over a balcony to get everything inside.
Even though the job took longer, the customer was happy with the result because she had no one else to help her.
Local Northside Furniture Removal
This was a furniture relocation helping a Chinese international student move from Kelvin Grove to Toowong. The young lady was moving into a shared accomodation facility. When we arrived Anna was all packed and ready to move. There was not a lot of furniture but it did include a piano, luckily it was of the small variety.
At the pick up and drop off points, the ground was hilly and not truck friendly at all. But not a problem for us, it just took a bit of extra time to load the furniture truck.
We all had a few laughs during the move and Anna was relieved she had chosen the right removalist for her job. I’m sure we will be helping with her next furniture move.
