Big removal job: Brisbane to Longreach
We arrived at the loading point right on time at 1:30 pm on Saturday. Turned out there was more furniture to load than we had been advised. It just took a bit longer to load than anticipated. Anyway, we found a way to get all items packed and loaded securely – tied down and blanketed.
One particular piece of furniture was a large glass topped coffee table (very fragile and breakable if not loaded properly). We wrapped it in extra blankets, and everything turned out fine.
By 6.30 pm Saturday we had the removal truck loaded and were ready to depart Brisbane.
Our first stop was Roma. We arrived in the early hours of Sunday around 3.00 am. The temperature was freezing. We stopped over at the United Roma Roadhouse. After a quick snack we had four and a half hours sleep. For breakfast we ate scrambled eggs, sausages, and several cups of coffee to wash it down.
Back in the removal truck the load was safe and secure. The towns ahead were Morven, Blackall, Barcaldine and finally Longreach. Arrival time there was 7:40 pm Sunday evening.
The wife was there to meet us and very happy we had arrived safely with their possessions intact. The owners shouted pizza when the last items were unloaded and inside what would be their new home for the next few years. The unloading took us until about 10.30 pm Sunday night. By then we were tired but stayed on the job until we had unpacked the last item.
After we had folded and stashed the blankets, we headed out of Longreach for the long trip home to Brisbane. My offsiders, Brenden and Tim, both agreed we had relocated another happy family and all parties were pleased with the end result.
